Is this hike suitable for beginners?
Yes, this is an entry-level hike. The terrain is relatively flat with some rocky patches. Anyone with basic mobility can complete the 2-hour trail comfortably.
Are there leeches on this trail during the monsoon?
Unlike the deep jungles of the Western Ghats, the Porvorim plateau has very few leeches. However, we still recommend wearing long pants and closed shoes during the rainy season as a precaution.
Can we enter the cave mentioned in the description?
You can view the entrance and explore the immediate interior of the cave. For safety reasons, we do not encourage deep exploration of the narrow passages, especially without professional caving equipment.
What is the best time of day to start the hike?
We recommend starting as early as 7:00 AM or 7:30 AM. The plateau is very exposed, and it can get quite hot by mid-morning. Early starts also offer the best birdwatching opportunities.
