What to Expect During the Experience

Your session begins at a private launch site near the Cavelossim-Assolna bridge. The Mangrove Channels

The highlight of the trip is navigating the narrow mangrove tunnels. These are small offshoots of the main river where the trees grow close together, often creating a natural canopy overhead. You will spend about 60 to 90 minutes paddling through these channels, where the water is exceptionally still. The guide will point out different mangrove species, such as the Rhizophora with its distinctive stilt roots.

The Sandbar Break

Halfway through the trip, you will stop at a secluded sandbar or a quiet riverbank. This is where you can enjoy your floating picnic basket, which typically includes chocolates, fresh seasonal fruits, and sparkling juice. If one partner gets tired, the double kayak allows the other to take over the majority of the paddling.

• Morning Slot (7:30 AM - 10:00 AM): Best for birdwatchers and those who want to avoid the heat. The lighting is crisp, and the air is cool.
• Afternoon Slot (3:30 PM - 6:00 PM): Ideal for those who want to witness the sunset over the river. The temperature drops as the sun goes down, making for a very comfortable paddle.

Monsoon Suitability

During the monsoon (June to September), we operate on a day-to-day basis depending on the intensity of the rain. Light rain actually makes the mangroves look incredibly lush and green, but we do not operate during heavy downpours or high winds for safety reasons.

What to Wear and Carry

Since you will be on the water, there is a high chance of getting a little wet from paddle splashes. We recommend wearing:

• Quick-dry t-shirts and shorts.
• Sandals or flip-flops (you will need to step into ankle-deep water to board).
• A wide-brimmed hat or cap.
• Sunglasses with a strap.
• Sunscreen (even on cloudy days, the reflection off the water can cause sunburn).
• A camera or phone (we provide a waterproof dry bag to keep your electronics safe).
